My sleep is ten times worse when I’m away from the comfort of my own bed. I don’t fall asleep easily, I don’t stay asleep and I most definitely cannot “sleep in.” Thank goodness for my sleep mask. It’s my security blanket. My son and daughter each have their own little security blanket. My son still uses a pacifier (he calls it a “boppy”) and my daughter, a sippy cup (also known as a “na-na”). I know. Gasp. Don’t worry. We’re working on it. I imagine my feelings about my sleep mask are similar to their feelings about their boppy and na-na. Even the thought of sleeping without my sleep mask makes my stomach churn and my heart pound. ACTUALLY sleeping without it because I forgot it? I might as well lay on the floor and kick and scream (like they do).
